Mixed Media
Works in this style have been around for a long time. The “mixed media” style means “mixed technique”.
You can mix different materials in this style. How much material do you have to mix before your work is considered mixed media, you might ask?
I have the following viewpoint. A work in this technique must be done with at least three mediums.
That is, I can glue some papers as a collage, then apply pastes and at the end add colors with acrylic paints, or use gilding or ink. The end result will be a Mixed Media Painting.
If we want to achieve a good result, it is important to let the individual layers dry well before applying the next layer.
When using large quantities or heavy materials, the painting primer must be particularly strong. In such a case, a wooden base is often used. But canvas can also hold up quite well to a heavy load.
